While the Committee has successfully raised the funds to pay the initial legal fees for the appeal process challenging the Parole Board’s July 2008 wrongful denial of parole to Chip, additional legal expenses are anticipated. As we believe this new legal effort will result in Chip’s freedom, we are looking to welcome him home. Upon his release, Chip will have to re-establish a life outside of prison, after 40 years of incarceration. To support this legal appeal effort and Chip’s transition to life beyond the wall, in terms of housing, transportation, clothing, so forth, the Committee has set up a Homecoming Fund, for which we are seeking contributions. Any amount you can give, from $5 to $50 to $100 or more, will be greatly appreciated.

    In September, we filed a habeas corpus petition in the Los Angeles Superior Court to overturn the 2008 wrongful parole board denial to Chip, and are waiting for a hearing.
