Poem by: Sikander Nasim Iqbal

Ain’t nobody Crying

I heard that we’ve fallen, So I’m callin fa help
So I turn to the lord, And I see that he’s fallen himself
In this life that we livin
Tell me how are things different
Could I share my perspectives and split light like a prism
Enticin ya vision to liken my mission
NOW YOU ASSUME THE POSITION, DON’T TRY NOTHIN STUPID

I know what you doin, I’ll have you leakin that fluid
You can put us in chains, you can drag us away
But our spirits shall rise past the day that we die
There’s not a cell that can contain…
Nor bars that constrain…
The products of the pain, produced on the blocks through years of enslavement
Still tastin oppression
Bout to bust from the pressure
The tension is thick with the ghetto in it’s texture
I learned my lessons from my peers
My motivation from my tears
My frustration from my fears
My blood has been laced with venom
So, to hell is where I sent’em
In this land of freedom we live dum fa free
Meanin its at no cost to them but its an arm and a leg to you and me
How many of yall been locked up fa yall beliefs
To preserve the status quo, they bleedin from they gums, they lyin through they teeth
Till change comes runnin, my heart skips a beat
For every time my people stand on they feet
If it ever was a time to rise up
I said the time is now
They say the time is up
Then I don’t get a fuck
Cuz somethins going down, we bout to tear something up
Cuz friends turn to crack sales
Schools transformed into over packed jails
I ask you twice only; FREE CHIP….I SAY YOU BETTER FREE CHIP
38 years is 38 too many, I’ll bust’em out this bitch myself if I cant get yo help
So fuck’em all; these are our blocks, our sisters and brothers, our burdens on our backs
It might as well be us captive in these slave shacks called prisons
Minds have become so oppressed it has distorted our vision
Chip is only the re-beginnin
So lets do this for our children
Cuz the truth shall not falter in the face of evil
In the words of Fred Hampton “I’m going to die for the people, because I’m going to live for the people”
